What Is Nubuck?

Nubuck is a finely polished leather treated with sand polishing. Despite it may be look like suede, it is made of other types of leather. Unlike polished leather, nubuck is extremely sensitive to moisture and dirt, so it is recommended to use such products only in dry weather. However, if occasionally your shoes will get rained on or you are stepping into a puddle, it is needed nubuck footwear to be cleaned as soon as possible.

Tips for Nubuck Products Cleaning

Here are some basic tips how to clean nubuck products:

  1. Use spray paint of the same color as the product itself. Thus, it will possible to maintain the original color of thing and hide possible rubbing and scratches.

  7. Conventional shoe care products cannot be used to clean genuine nubuck. You should buy shoe care products special for this material.
  8. Nubuck can be cleaned with the help of medical alcohol. You can mix 3 tablespoons of water with 1 tablespoon of medical alcohol. Moisten a wet swab and wipe the soiled area.
  9. Don’t use soapy water to clean genuine nubuck products.
  10. Don’t clean the surface of a nubuck product with sharp objects, because in this case there is a high probability of scratching of material.
